How long does it take valium to clear out of your system?

valium
JustJules asked:

I am hopeful that I will be getting a job for which I am going interview. I anticipate that a drug test will be required. I take valium (as needed). I do have a prescription, but I don’t necessarily want my potential employer to know that I take it. I also take antidepressants. Will they test for this as well?

I really feel like this is an invasion of my privacy.

It may or may not come up, depending on what antidepressants you are on. But I can tell you from experience, it can also help you. When I was getting a job, I showed my boss my prescriptions for my medications and he was very understanding. Some people have physical problems they can’t help, some have mental. He explained that it was good that I was taking care of it and not ignoring it, so I was being responsible and caring for myself. I know you don’t want people to know, but they do have the right to know just in case something happens to you and they need to know what you are taking, or if you are in fact abusing your medication and it is affecting your work.

Don’t worry about it. It will all be fine. If it isn’t, you can hunt me down for lying to you. :)

They don’t test for Valium and antidepressants. They only test for illegal drugs. The half life of Valium is 50 hrs.
